Swish, Sniff & Sip:
Providence Commons Wine Social Is A Huge Hit

On Thursday, March 1, more than 20 Providence Commons residents gathered at the home of Kelly and Rob Musante for the first Swish, Sniff & Sip Wine Social.  People tasted and rated wines from the Rhone region of France, ate some tasty appetizers, socialized and had a great time.

The top two wines, receiving the exact same total score, were Vacqueryras La Cuvee du President Cotes Du Rhone and Cairanne Cotes du Rhone.

The Swish, Sniff & Sip Wine Socials explore wines from a different country/region each time, and all participants bring a bottle of wine (red or white) from that region to share/taste at the social.

We have already had the Petersens on Caslon Court offer to host a Wine Social in June featuring the wines of Chile.  There is no formal schedule (as in quarterly or monthly), so we welcome others to host an event in April or May. If you are interested in hosting a Wine Social, please contact Rob Musante at robmusante@gmail.com.

Operation Sandwich

Providence Commons' Operation Sandwich supports Urban Ministry's Soup Kitchen, Charlotte’s largest, oldest soup kitchen and the only one that serves a hot, nutritious lunch 365 days a year, with no questions asked or prerequisites for service.  They need 800 sandwiches every day of the year – that’s almost 300,000 sandwiches on an annual basis.

Providence Commons will be coordinating a community event to provide 400 sandwiches on Monday, April 24th.  Come join your neighbors and make sandwiches on Sunday, April 23rd. It is sure to be a fun time!

If you are interested in participating please sign up at the Annual Meeting on March 14th or email Missy Maag at missymaag@yahoo.com.  Additional participation details will be provided closer to the event.

Providence Commons Neighborhood Yard Sale

It’s cleaning time again all over Providence Commons. The Providence Commons Spring 2012 Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 8:00 A.M. – Noon.  We invite all residents to participate in this event.

Signs will be posted along Providence Road at both entrances and an advertisement will be placed in the Charlotte Observer. The committee will take care of obtaining the proper permits required by the City.

Please send a check made payable to “PCHOA” in the amount of $10.00 which defrays the advertising and permit fee costs. A sign-up form will be available at the annual meeting.  Please mail the form together with your check to R. E. Purpur, 6202 Caslon Court, Charlotte, NC 28270.  All forms/checks must be received by May 12.  Any questions, please call Ralph at 704.442.5489.
